Application of upland irrigation is one of the most effective methods for enlarging the capacity of the adaption of upland cultivation. To apply upland irrigation, it is important to ensure not only water quantity for irrigation but also electric energy for the pump which pressurizes irrigated water. Irrigation is indispensable especially for greenhouse cultivation under structure and ensuring the effective usage of electric energy and water is essential in an area which includes many greenhouse cultivation structures. In this study, actual conditions of upland fields in two areas of different size were investigated and application of effective water usage and water saving irrigation to suit the character of the each area was planned. The investigations were done in Mikatagahara in Shizuoka prefecture and Hokuso in Chiba prefecture, and the characteristics of cultivation crops and terminal equipment were investigated. From the results of the investigations, it is clarified that the water usage for greenhouse cultivation under structure affected the total amount of water usage in Mikatagahara area but the ratio of that for outdoors cultivation was larger in Hokuso where the water usage peaked in August.
