 note = {世界の食料資源問題を経済地理学の観点から考察した。世界の主要な食料は米と小麦,およびとうもろこしなどの穀物が最も基本的なものである。米はアジア,小麦はヨーロッパ,とうもろこしはアメリカ大陸の主要な食料資源になっているとともに,地域的に偏在している。これらの食料は地域の環境条件,すなわち自然的条件,社会経済的条件,歴史的・文化的条件などによって,食料の生産,流通,消費にさまざまな地域性を生み出し,また,変容している。アジアモンスーンの米作は高温多湿の気候条件とモンスーンによってもたらされる水資源によって生産されるが,アジアで生産され,アジアで消費され貿易量の比率は小さく,アジアの人々を養う重要な食料となっている。一方,小麦は冷涼乾燥な気候条件と雨量の少ない高緯度地域で多く栽培され,世界に広く分布するとともに,貿易量も米に比較してはるかに多い。米と小麦の対照性はアジアとヨーロッパ(欧米諸国)の基本的な食料資源として世界の食料問題に大きな影響を及ぼしている。これに加えて,とうもろこしは直接的に人間の食料として利用される比率は少なく,大部分は家畜の飼料として利用されているが,土地資源の利用のうえからみれば人間の食料と家畜の飼料生産とが競合することになる。近年では代替エネルギーとしての利用が拡大しており,畜産との競合も懸念される。これらの主要な食料資源に加えて,畜産物と水産物が世界の食料資源問題に重要な影響をおよぼす。アジア型食体系の特徴は米を主体として水産物とを結合させたパターンが中心であり,ヨーロッパ型の食体系は小麦を主体として畜産物を組み合わせたパターンが中心であることを特徴としている。食料問題はこれまで,人口と食料との関係から論じられてきたが,21世紀には人口と食料の関係に加えて環境の問題を考えなければならない状況となっている。アジア型食体系とヨーロッパ型食体系がそれぞれに人口と食料と環境に適合した資源を有効に利用してゆくための地理的条件に見合ったものであることを再認識し,21世紀の食料資源問題への対応を考えてゆくべきであろう。, This paper gave consideration to food resources problems in the world from the point of view of economic geography. Grain such as rice wheat and corn is a fundamental food in the world. Rice is a basic food resource in Asian countries, wheat is Western, Corn is American respectively and each grain has a regional unbalanced existence. These food resources make regional characteristics and changes with the times in food product distribution and consumption according to environmental condition such as natural, socio-economic, historical and cultural conditions. Rice is the most important food resource for Asian countries peoples, Monsoon Asia produces rice in climate conditions of high temperature and high humidity with monsoon bringing water resources. Asian regions produce rice and mostly consume within the region,therefore percentage ratio of rice trade is low. On the other hand wheat is grown at high latitude area in climate conditions of low temperature and dry conditions widely distributed throughout in the world.The wheat trade shows a strong contrast compared with trade in rice. Rice and wheat as fundamental food resources have strong influence on food resource problems in the world. As corn is production mostly for animal feed not for use in the human diet directly, corn production is in competition with human diet and animal feed for utilization of land resources. Further livestock and fisheries strongly influence the animal protein diet. Food system in Asian type is rice combined with fisheries products while western type has difference characteristic of wheat combined with livestock products. Discuss of food resource problems has long focused on the gap between population and food supply. However this situation now includes not only population and food supply but also the complexity environmental problems in 21^st century. We must create a new understanding of economic geographical conditions.
