When we look at gardening during the Asuka era, a nature-friendly method was adapted by utilizing the lay of the land surrounding a residence and using natural and locally available materials. Although the shape of construction has been changed this standard as a gardening process has been unchanged until the modern era. 2. The development of allotment of industry and business has taken similar tracks along with the social economy although the quantity of work was less compared with the construction business. In the Edo era, the sales industry of materials such as plants, stone etc., were strong. However, the existence of landscape gardening workers who handled the soil directly has been scarcely recognized. 3. The gardener's image of a landscape or garden greatly influences the workmanship of the garden and leads to the gardener's actions for reflecting the beauty of simple and artful nature.
